Zilā grīda 47.Klosteris The essential task of painting, in my opinion, is to touch and thrill, and offer emotional and intellectual enjoyment by using visual means. Striving for this goal I chose themes that truly inspire me. Already for several years I have been fascinated by light and shade, space and depth and the atmosphere they create. I enjoy the way light brings out the patterns while the motifs of medieval floors and walls that I use add a dimension of time to the paintings. I am fascinated by light in all its forms. I have been working lately on paintings, devoted to the beautiful aspects of equine and human anatomy viewed through the prism of the light of x-ray images. I work in oil, using thin technique of painting and trying to achieve vibrant depth by multiple layers of paint. Sometimes I use pencil line as means of expression in details. Painting still remains the most fascinating kind of art and a challenge to me. Dita Luse
