Manss gallery already for the 19th time will host the Great Summer Exhibition. Undoubtfully , the exhibition is a prominent event in the cultural life of Latvia presenting the artworks created by several generations of Latvian artists: I. Vecozols, J. Pigoznis, E. Grube, J. Osis, A. Meldere, A. Naumovs, L. Eglite, N. Braslins, I. Celmina, N. Medvedeva, P. Brekte, L. Kempe, Z. Luse and many others. Manss gallery is one of the oldest in Latvia and is located in the town Jekabpils - 142 km from Riga. Dzemma Skulmes personality plays a paramount role in Latvian art development and social life of Latvia in the second half of the 20th century. Coming from a family of major artists, a maker or Latvian classical modernism, Dzemma Skulme uses allegorical images of past and present to talk about her own and all people of Latvia roots, destiny and heritage. (Ilze Zeivate, art historian). Dzemma Skulme graduated from painting faculty of Latvian Academy of Art (1949) and Repin Art Institute in Saint-Petersburg (1955). Colorful, as they were made by a child, paintings showing naked girls were inspired by daughter Martas childhood drawings. Latest Dzemma Skulmes paintings confirm her daring to continue the search of hr soul. Through these works the artist has come to something that gives true internal freedom and satisfaction. Dz. Skulmes artworks can be seen in Latvian National Art Museum, Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, Zimmerly Art Museum (USA) and other collections.
